Propylene oxide (PO) is a chemical intermediate produced from propylene. Global capacity exceeds 5 million tpa, of which two thirds is consumed to make polyether polyols. The second major use is to produce propylene glycols, followed by uses to make Glycol Ethers and butanediol. World demand is growing at around 4% per year, with polyether polyols rising faster than glycols ethers.
