As 2010 draws to a close, China Chemical & Fibre Economic Information Network (CCFEI) and Tecnon OrbiChem will jointly host the 7th China International Polyester & Intermediates Forum. To be held on 3-5 November 2010 in Shanghai, China, players will once again gather together to exchange ideas and focus on key market issues, such as:

Supply/Demand Imbalances in Upstream Markets
Paraxylene capacity has expanded rapidly in recent years, with the result that the market has moved into over-supply in 2010. With PTA capacity also now expected to go through a new growth phase, concerns are rising over the possible impact on margins. Will PTA producers see their recent good days extending into 2011, as the domestic Chinese market becomes less reliant on imports? Will MEG inventory remain at high levels in spite of slow capacity expansion?

Challenges Facing Non-Fibre Polyester
In 2010, the PET Packaging Resin industry has been hit by restricted exports and rising costs. New
and fast-growing capacities in the Middle East as well as anticipated expected Renminbi appreciation are also casting shadows on the industry. How should producers adjust their export strategies to cope with market changes?  This year’s forum will include a PET Packaging Resin session, where major PET suppliers, traders and consumers can share and compare opinions.

China as the Engine for World Textile Industry
2010 is the final year in China’s Eleventh Five-year Plan. As such, it is considered a milestone and a crossroads in the development of China’s textile industry. Having emerged from the recent economic crisis, the industry is now faced with new challenges such as labour shortages, soaring costs and Renminbi appreciation.

Meanwhile, inefficient industry structures, outdated technologies and low levels of R& D are preventing the industry from further advances. Senior offi cials and experts from related enterprises will join us to discuss how these challenges and obstacles can be met and overcome.
